Apple iPad 3 :- latest rumour round-up

Just when you thought the rumours had finished and we’d now be sitting quietly waiting for the iPad 3, a fresh batch of speculation has been served up.
The rumour and debate has been raging ever since we got our hands on the iPad 2 almost a year ago. But as the (expected) launch date for Apple’s next tablet draws ever closer, the rumour mill shows no sign of easing up.
So in the coming days and weeks get ready for lots more gossip and hearsay, but remember to take it all with a pinch of salt.
Of course, it’s harder to do this when we know that the iPad 3 is probably in production by now – lending a little more weight to any leaks from sources in the production process.
But that is all part of the fun. So what have we been hearing in the way of juicy gossip for the iPad 3 this week? Here is a round-up of the latest rumours.

Apple iPad 3 photos?
The rumour mill was sent in to overdrive earlier today, when photos apparently showing the next-gen tablet started doing the rounds on the web.
The photos, initially released to tech blog RepairLabs, appear to show the back of the iPad 3 casing. Of course, there’s no way of knowing if the photos are genuine – they could easily be a rejected prototype, or a fake.
But what can we gather from the photos? If they are to be believed, it looks like the iPad 3 will have a larger battery, a slimmer logic board, and a different screen.

Apple iPad 3 display
According to some reports, the iPad3 will be touting a screen resolution which will be double that of the iPad 2 – at 2048 x 1536.
An all-out retina display, this much-improved screen will mean the next-gen device is slightly thicker than the iPad 2, by about 1mm – nothing to write home about.

No quad-core?
Apparently not, if some rumours are to be believed. This is an interesting one, as all reports up until now had suggested otherwise. But it looks like we could be getting a dual-core A6 processor instead.
